Fortnite still has the 2 billion shotgun ammo glitch, and players are losing their minds over it still being in the game.

Glitches in games have existed as long as games themselves, mostly frustrating the player and ruining the experience. Whether they are audio glitches causing chaos in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 or something silly like the vanguard glitch, which causes giant hands to block the view

However, there are occasions when glitches can be especially enjoyable, such as this recurring glitch in Fortnite called the 2 Billion shotgun ammo glitch. In short, this glitch causes a bot to drop a ridiculous amount of ammo once killed.

A user on Reddit u/zayuu posted his experience with the glitch stating “Me and my friend were just playing no build and I noticed a few stacks of shotgun ammo, I looked at mine and noticed I had max, but low on every other ammo."

At first, he seemed confused as he continued, "I thought it was just a visual glitch so I dropped mine a few metres away and picked up from it, and noticed that it was taken from the stack. That's when I noticed there were literally 2 billion shotgun shells on the ground.

Another user, u/K-boomX94, posted a video of the glitch where they walk up to a dead NPC and saw over 2 Billion shotgun ammo waiting to be picked up.

While this glitch was initially discovered a few months ago, fans are surprised to see it is still not fixed. The glitch is a rare occurrence, so it is understandable why Fortnite isn't spending resources trying to fix it immediately.

There are theories present online on what could be causing this glitch, as this user pointed out in their YouTube video, this 2 billion figure is also present as the possible maximum in games such as Runescape and GTA V. Apparently, it is down to how the count is made in binary meaning the game is unable to know how much ammo to provide and ends up giving you the maximum it can count up to which is 2 Billion.

While this glitch has a larger impact on the play than any usual visual glitch, Fortnite doesn’t seem to be too concerned with it currently.
