Ex Blizzard Developers Team Up To Create The Next Best RTS Game

Lightspeed & Quantum Studios group who is a subsidiary of Tencent Games has announced Uncapped Games Studios, lead by former Blizzard developers, the team has been tasked to create the next best Real-Time Strategy game.

The studio is lead by David Kim and Jason Hughes, well-known developers from many projects from Blizzard, including Starcraft, Diablo IV, and World of Warcraft.

The studio is located in Playa Vista, California, and while there was no specific plan for employment, all members are currently Blizzard Alumni, Says David Kim, in an interview with Wowhead.

Kim also spoke about the teams 3 core values:

  • For the game.
  • Honesty and transparency.
  • Reasoning over ego.

With the experience and support behind the team, they believe starting with a "crystal clear" game vision with a collaborative development process with the community is the most successful way to creating a great game.

The ambitious project aspires to create "the most action-packed PC RTS, with the lowest barrier to entry, that is impossible to master" but if we are to put our faith in anyone, it would be the developers who have proven themselves on many popular titles before them.

The team is also backed by Tencent Games, which should give the studio the freedom to create the game without the worry of funding.

Many new studios are popping up from ex-Blizzard developers, including the recent announcement of another RTS game in development from Frost Giant Studios with support from Dreamhaven, which is run by ex-Blizzard co-founder Mike Morhaime.
