Enotria: The Last Song's Xbox version is hanging by a thread

Jyanma Games has confirmed that their upcoming AA Soulslike action RPG Enotria: The Last Song won't launch on Xbox, focusing on developing the game for PC and PlayStation 5 instead.

After revealing brand-new gameplay on March 21 and confirming the release date as August 21, with a demo "coming soon," Jyamma Games CEO Jacky Greco explained the hardships of developing the title.

He stated that, in order to deliver a great experience for players on PS5 and PC, they've decided to scrap the Xbox version for the time being.

According to Gematsu, Greco said:

Regarding the release on Xbox, we have decided, in the interest of ensuring a superior experience for PC and PlayStation 5 players, to reassess the possibility of an Xbox release post-launch

Part of the decision to scrap the Xbox version at launch is most likely tied to the development team's need to shift resources, moving from Unreal Engine 4 to 5.

According to Greco, the switch allowed them to "expand the game and elevate it in terms of content and quality going beyond the expected AA standards."

According to Greco, Enotria: The Last Song will feature over 40 hours of gameplay, with 100 types of enemies, 120 weapons to collect, 45 spells to earn, and a skill tree and mask-switching system that "promise to revolutionise the soulslike genre with unprecedented build diversification."

It's going to be a good year for Soulslike fans, and the developers behind Enotria: The Last Song will hope to stand out in the myriad of titles within the genre. We've already seen Rise of Ronin launch, and more are on the way like Black Myth: Wukong, Phantom Blade Zero, and Stellar Blade.

Of course, the Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, is perhaps the most anticipated. Will Enotria: The Last Song stand on its own? Only time will tell.

The game will be released on August 21 on PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store) and PlayStation 5.
