Breakdown

  • CAPCOM has decided to nerf Dragonsplague in the latest update to Dragon's Dogma 2.
  • They've made it easier to detect and reduced the frequency of occurrence.
  • Not everyone is happy with the new change but most people are breathing a sigh of relief.

Dragon’s Dogma 2, is getting an update later this month and CAPCOM released the patch notes. Luckily, the most annoying feature of the game, Dragonsplague, will see a huge nerf.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Early Patch Notes for Dragonsplague Nerf include:

  • Reducing the infection frequency of Dragonsplague and adjusting the signs of Pawns infected with Dragonsplague to be more noticeable.
  • For example, when infected, glowing eyes will be more noticeable.
  • Adding the option to zoom in on the faces of the Arisen and Pawns in the status screen, shops, etc.
  • Adjustments to Pawns' behavior and dialogue.
  • Fixing issues where Pawns wouldn't start guiding after offering to guide.

For those unfamiliar, Dragonsplague is an infection that causes one of your pawns to go rogue and turn into a Dragon that kills all nearby NPCs once you rest in a town.

To cure Dragonsplague, players resorted to strategies such as throwing pawns into rivers. Naturally, this halts progression and has become a thorn in the side of new players unfamiliar with the mechanic.

Since borrowing Pawns is a necessity in the game, due to the curse, it becomes really difficult for players to progress at times. So, CAPCOM has decided to nerf Dragonsplague in response to all these complaints.

However, not everyone welcomes this new change as some players commented on how “Nerfing something that rarely happens and its also the most unique mechanic of the game is very disappointing,".

Hopefully, this update will make Dragonsplague easier to detect, allowing players to notice the infection earlier and take preventative action before it destroys a whole town and halts their progression completely.

On the other hand, some players insist it adds nothing to the game besides being a huge headache and are happy it’s getting nerfed into the ground.

If you really just hate the idea of Dragonsplague, you can get rid like other players who made a mod to remove it from the game entirely.
