Destiny 2 player TVCruz has confirmed that Bungie has banned him from the game after manually reviewing his case. According to Cruz, it's because he was running an economy mod for an older Total War title, which is an RTS completely unrelated to Destiny 2.

Cruz explained via social media that, after requesting a manual review of his ban and explaining in full detail what the Total War mod actually did, he got a response from a security member at Bungie, stating that a "memory editing/debugging software marketed as a cheat program was detected," and thus he would be unable to appeal his ban.

Cruz also explained the functionality of the mod to his followers on Twitter, clarifying it doesn't even directly intervene with Total War's gameplay, but it's a tool to make the economy system more bearable beyond what "outdated workshop mods" can provide.

Bungie can ban you from using mods in other games? It seems that way
This program once again cannot alter any files as it strictly is limited to working with the economy of these games. I'm certain that after closing it (since I've been playing shogun 2 a lot lately) it was still active in the background

Members of the Destiny 2 community have raised concerns over this matter, trying to petition Bungie to reconsider the permaban, including his fellow Clan Elysium teammate Saltagreppo.

Cruz has been a member of the most dominant Destiny 2 clans when it comes to PvE content, winning a total of World's First raid races, where players attempt to finish a brand-new or reprised raid before anyone else, often involving modifiers that make the content harder.

Clan Elysium and Cruz have won a total of four raid races, including three in a row between 2021 and 2022 (Vault of Glass, Vow of the Disciple, and King's Fall). Their fourth came in 2023 with Crota's End.

Bungie has not responded to the situation beyond the message sent directly by Cruz and it remains to be seen if the issue will be addressed publicly or if they'll try to contact Cruz privately to resolve it swiftly.
