Breakdown

  • The Final Shape raid will launch three days after the expansion releases, on June 7
  • Fans are angry at the small amount of time they have to finish the DLC and get ready for the raid race
  • Bungie might be open to delaying the raid launch as they listen to community feedback often

Bungie has confirmed that The Final Shape raid is set to come out on June 7, just three days after the next big expansion in Destiny 2 drops.

In the This Week in Destiny blog post on April 18, the developers shocked fans by revealing that The Final Shape raid will be released just mere days after the expansion.

After the launch of The Final Shape on June 4, Guardians won’t have to wait too long to tackle the raid. The new raid will launch on June 7 at 10 AM PT. So gather your fireteam, gear up, and get ready!

Raids are usually released a whole week after an expansion drops, as this gives players, especially content creators, enough time to finish the DLC, get their gear ready and test builds as they prepare for the World's First raid race that accompanies every raid launch.

The Final Shape is the culmination of 10 years of storytelling

With The Finale Shape introducing the most ambitious subclass in the entire game, Prismatic, which mixes abilities from all five previous ones, fans are understandably upset at the short amount of time they'll have to prepare for the raid launch.

Content creator HeyFitzy criticised the decision, implying that having such a rushed launch will make a vast majority of players unable to enjoy The Final Shape as they'll be too busy essentially speedrunning it to get ready for the raid.

On the other side of the discussion, a portion of the player base is defending the decision, claiming that whether it's three days or an entire week, the extra prep time will likely not make a difference for the more casual audience, and the content creators that dedicate their life to Destiny 2 will have the upper hand regardless.

Bungie is known to listen to community feedback in certain situations and The Final Shape raid might be delayed if fans make a convincing argument. Until that happens, mark your calendars for what's sure to be an exciting raid race on June 7.
