The launch of Season 5 in Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 is right around the corner, much to the excitement of players waiting to see what Infinity Ward and Raven Software have in store.

Season 5 is expected to be the final seasonal update for both titles, before attention turns towards the launch of Modern Warfare 3. As has happened in previous updates, a new selection of weaponry is expected to arrive as part of the battle pass.

Following the reveal of new artwork related to the upcoming season, eagle-eyed players believe they've spotted a classic weapon from a previous title that could be making a return.

Classic Call of Duty weapon to return in Season 5?

On July 26, Call of Duty's social media channels gave players their first look at some of the content arriving in the next seasonal update. Alongside the three Operators shown, one weapon in particular has caught people's attention.

Players were quick to recognise the FAMAS assault rifle in the hands of Oz. Instead of looking like the burst rifle from 2009's Modern Warfare 2, this iteration of the gun heavily resembles the FAMAS that debuted in the first Black Ops title. Judging by player reaction, many are looking forward to using it, with one saying: "Woah, the Famas?!"

The FAMAS from Black Ops featured a lethal rate of fire, capable of eliminating opponents in the blink of an eye. More recently, the assault rifle appeared in Black Ops Cold War as the FFAR 1.

Modern Warfare 2 Graves Operator

Alongside the return of the FAMAS, Shadow Company leader Philip Graves is also on his way back following the explosive conclusion to the Modern Warfare 2 campaign. One player is clearly excited by his return, having declared: "Graves, my beloved!"

The reappearance of the Shadow Company leader could coincide with some leaks surrounding the Modern Warfare 3 reveal. Data miners have claimed that the faction could play an integral role in the in-game event, which is rumoured to be taking place during Season 5.

There's every chance the FAMAS and Graves will become a popular combination in Warzone and Modern Warfare 2. While we wait for their potential arrival, take a look at our guides showcasing the best Warzone SO-14 loadout and when the next Modern Warfare 2 double XP event takes place.
