The Apex Legends map pool always contains a variety of battlegrounds and is regularly switched up in order to inject a breath of fresh air into Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale.

The current selection of King’s Canyon, Broken Moon, World’s Edge, and Olympus continues to prove popular, but ahead of Season 18, fans are anticipating the potential of a new map potentially making its debut. Meanwhile some continue to claim that they're dropping into matches filled with AI-controlled bots.

Ahead of the new season, a leaker is claiming that a brand-new Apex Legends map is on the horizon, with a 2024 release date reportedly locked in for it.

New Apex Legends map leaked

According to notable leaker Thordan Smash, the new map, seemingly called District, will arrive next year in addition to an overhaul to the Apex Legends engine.

The leaker asserts that Apex Legends will soon receive an engine update similar to Counter-Strike’s CS2 update, in a bid to improve performance and fix audio issues that have impacted players for several seasons.

Smash also alleges: “(District) is a Titanfall 2 map and it has wall running,” suggesting a major adjustment to the game's mechanics could also be on the horizon. Alongside a new mechanic to master and significant quality-of-life improvements, the leaker also claims to know a potential release date for the District map.

Apex Legends District map potential release date

If this leak is to be believed, the District map is currently set to be launching in the first half of 2024, as part of the Season 23 update. As Apex Legends is currently only just nearing Season 18, it appears there are several months to go until it'll become clear whether Smash's information is accurate or not.

As with all leaks, it’s important to take this with a pinch of salt and wait until the developers are ready to officially share what the next seasons of Apex Legends have in store before getting excited.
