Dead by Daylight has welcomed numerous horror icons into its dark and crazy universe, but this might be the first time they’re bringing in an acclaimed author. That’s right, Alan Wake, everyone’s favorite Champion of Light, will be joining this sick and demented multiplayer title later this month.
According to the game’s official website, players will be able to obtain Remedy’s favorite author on January 30. Fans of the franchise will be thrilled to know that Wake will be based on his most recent appearance in Alan Wake 2, complete with that fabulous beard.
Sam Lake, the creative director of Remedy Entertainment, has commented on Wake arriving in Dead by Daylight. Naturally, the director is ecstatic to see the character in yet another horror title, especially since there’s more horror to come for him based on his game’s ending.
“We are thrilled to bring Alan Wake, our tortured writer, into the acclaimed Dead by Daylight. We feel the lore of our two horror experiences is a match made in the Dark Place and can't wait to experience the horrors that await him in the Fog,” says Sam Lake.
Fans will also be happy to know that several of Wake’s abilities will make their way to the game. The appropriately named “Champion of Light” perk will allow him to blind the serial killer with his flashlight, just like in his games. Wake can also use Boon: Illumination to help his team find supplies and chests faster, while Deadline ups the frequency of Skill Checks while healing survivors.
Wake isn’t the only iconic horror game character to appear in Dead by Daylight, as most of the Resident Evil cast have also joined the multiplayer experience. Of course, that also means some of their foes have joined the fray, as Nemesis is one of the tougher monsters players can be paired against.

Alan Wake is coming to Dead by Daylight on January 30. Alan Wake 2 is now available on PS5, Xbox Series, and Epic Games, with DLC coming later this year.
