Street Fighter 6 season 1 of content is nearing its final stretch following the release of Ed with Capcom finally giving fans an in-game look at the last DLC character - Akuma.

On March 11, during the second day of the Capcom Highlights event, the first teaser trailer for Akuma was released. Although there was no actual gameplay footage, the trailer provided a glimpse of what the vicious fighter looks like in-game.

Akuma, alongside the rest of season 1 DLC, was leaked even before Street Fighter 6 launched back in June. The leak was so substantial that Capcom had to come out and publicly confirm that Rashid, A.K.I, Ed, and Akuma would be the first batch of post-launch content their flagship fighting game would receive.

The leaks happened in April of last year, with fans having to wait almost an entire year to get their first look at what Akuma would look like in-game. It was worth the excruciating delay, though, as he's depicted as a massive, imposing beast capable of breaking giant boulders in half with such ease that would make Chris Redfield jealous.

Just like previous DLC characters, Akuma will also be a mentor added to Street Fighter 6's World Tour, the single-player mode that acts as a tutorial and a way for players to customise their avatar, getting to learn more about the cast of fighters in the process.

Akuma looks like an absolute unit

For Street Fighter 6, Akuma returns with white hair instead of his classic red hair, marking a significant visual difference from his previous incarnations. Much like Ryu's default design for this entry, it's meant to symbolise the fact that Akuma, like much of the roster, is now a seasoned fighter.

Sadly, as much as they showed, we still don't have a set release date for Akuma. Spring is right around the corner, though, and fans are hopeful that means they won't have to wait much longer for Akuma's release.
