The second Chapter of Fortnite has been a wild ride so far, with 8 Seasons of wacky mayhem, plot twists, incredible collaborations, and new mechanics. Now rumors are circulating that Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 8 may be the last Season before Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 1. If this is true, players will be seeing Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 9 on December 6th, but a whole new Island...or at least a drastically changed one.

Of course, this is not the first time folks have thought that Chapter 2 would end. There were rumors that Fornite Chapter 2, Season 6 would close out the Season, but these turned out not to be true. More info is sure to come out in the next month, but until then, here are some rumors floating around that are causing people to think Season 8 is the end.
Fortnite Chapter 3 Clues
The two significant pieces of information Fortnite data miners and leakers are looking into are the wording in Epic's latest blog post and that the Blackhole files were recently updated.
The wording in the above image makes it seem vague as to what is coming after Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 8. If it were indeed Season 9, Epic could just come out and say Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 9. If Chapter 3 were on its way and wanted to keep that a secret, the above wording would be the way to go.
Of course, that may not be the case, but it is a bit curious why they chose to word it the way they did.
@HYPEX noticed the Blackhole files were updated in the Fortnite code and the hotfix that makes it, so players load into the Blackhole instead of the game. While this may be some cleanup on the part of the Developers, it could also mean that a new Chapter is on the way.
B.R.U.T.E. Mechs
The last time B.R.U.T.E. Mechs were in the game is when Fortnite Chapter 1 was coming to a close. These vehicles were never meant to be in the game long-term and only showed up in a time of dire need. With Mechs about to arrive again, could this signal the end of Chapter 2?
The Cube Queen's Arrival
With the current theme of Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 8, and the fact that the Cube Queen is running amok relatively unchallenged while IO tucks tails and hides underground, it seems Fortnite is ripe for a significant Island changing event. That event could drive players to a new Island or an Island that the Queen's actions have drastically changed.
In other words, all hell has broken loose, and now would be the perfect time to end Chapter 2 and start Chapter 3.
