A while ago eagle-eyed Fortnite players spotted a glitch that seems to suggest that players could soon earn XP for NPC quests. Well Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 8 brought fans just that, with repeatable NPC quests that provide both gold and XP. It has been a popular addition to the game and is expected to continue into Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 1.
Could Fortnite NPCs Soon Provide XP For Quests?
Back when this article was first written, there was no clear indication of whether or not NPCs would offer XP quests. Now that the feature is in the game, the question is not if they will provide XP, but for how long.
At the start of Chapter 2, Season 8, NPC quests did not award XP. Due to the slow progression of leveling due to the new Punchcard system and removal of weekly Epic and Legendary Quests, Epic made tweaks and changes, one of which was awarding XP for NPC quests.
All players need to do is accept a quest from an NPC on the Island, or from a payphone, and they can earn gold and XP from completing said quest. Not only that, but quests from an NPC are repeatable, allowing players to complete them over and over again over the course of their Fortnite matches.
