Square Enix Survey Points to Final Fantasy Tactics, Ogre Battle Remakes

The big NVIDIA GeForce leak mentioned a Final Fantasy Tactics remake, and while publishers and NVIDIA said many of the titles included were just placeholders, it seem the FF Tactics remake might not be one of them.

Reddit user DrNanard (first spotted by Nibel) received a playtest survey from Square Enix and Eidos Montreal asking multiple questions revolving around strategy and tactics games. The questions included mention of Final Fantasy tactics and the Ivalice games, several other tactics games, such as Fire Emblem, and there was even a section devoted to Ogre Battle.

Square Enix Survey Points to Final Fantasy Tactics, Ogre Battle Remakes

The last new Ogre Battle game was Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis for Game Boy Advance, which released in 2001. While the NVIDIA leak made no mention of a new Ogre Battle game, the series' inclusion in the survey piqued DrNanard's interest.

Final Fantasy Tactics released on PlayStation 1 in 1997 and was the first game set in Ivalice. It follows Ramza Beoulve, Delita Heiral, and their struggle against Ivalice's brutal class sytem and swirling political intrigue. Square Enix remade the game for mobile devices and PlayStation Portable as Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, complete with enhanced graphics, but slowdown plagued the re-release.

As yet, there's no concrete information on what kind of remake Final Fantasy Tactics might get or how extensive it could be. However, Sony has a new State of Play planned for October 28 with reveals from third-party partners. It's possible we could see something Final Fantasy-adjacent announced then.
