FF7 Remake Not Getting Any Further DLC, Director Prioritising Part 2 Development

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 could be some way off, but the game's director has reaffirmed that Square Enix is focused primarily on its development as opposed to additional DLC for Part 1.

Last month's State of Play event revealed Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade, an updated version of the first part which includes a new story chapter that introduces Yuffie, as well as PS5 enhancements.

FF7 Remake Not Getting Any Further DLC, Director Prioritising Part 2 Development

In an interview with Famitsu (via VGC), Tetsuya Nomura explained that the team is focused on the development of the second part.

“Due to the nature of the upgrade system, it resulted in us having to label the new Yuffie sections as ‘DLC’. However, the original intent was to create a PS5 version of FF7 Remake and not to produce DLC. Accordingly, we do not have any plans for DLC at this time."

According to Nomura, porting the first part of the game to PS5 will make the development of the second much easier.

“Sorting out the development environment on PS5 for FF7 Remake Intergrade, meant that moving on to developing the sequel was much smoother,” Nomura said.

“We are now prioritizing the roadmap for completing the next game, so if we do need to think about more DLC then it will probably come after that is finished.”

As for the second part, the game is in full production. Find out all we know here.
