FIFA 21 Headliners: Team 2 Upcoming Fixtures, Best Investments & Possible Upgrades

Headliners Team 2 has been released into packs in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team, with a 2nd squad of incredible cards, available until Friday 14th January, once again focusing on players that have written their names into the headlines over the first part of the season.

Being dynamic cards that upgrade throughout the year, staying one upgrade above the next highest performance based in-form (TOTW, MOTM, Hero or Team of the Group Stage) for the remainder of the season, Headliner cards are highly desirable items in FUT this year.

One of the big additions to Headliner cards however is the fact that there is the opportunity for an additional one-time permanent upgrade if their club achieves four back to back wins during the remainder of the domestic league season. If this occurs, the Headliner version will then be 2 in-form upgrades ahead of the next highest performance based in-form card!

With these upgrades on the line, let’s take a look at the upcoming fixtures for Headliners Team 2, and see who may be in the running for the additional Headliner upgrade!

With Madrid drawing their first eligible game for the 4 game win streak against Osasuna on Saturday, the next game they can get back to winning ways in is against Deportivo Alaves on the 23rd.

Given that it’ll be at least a month until Benzema can potentially receive an upgrade, it may be worth holding off on buying him, wait for his price to drop during the Team of the Year promotion that’s upcoming.

Erling Haland - 89 ST - Borussia Dortmund

Haland is one of the most deserving recipients of a Headliner card this year, with an incredible goalscoring record.

Haland and Dortmund already earned 1 win towards their 4 game winning streak needed in the Bundesliga for the additional upgrade after a 3-1 away win to Leipzig on Saturday.

While they face bottom of the league Mainz in their next feature, a difficult tie against Leverkusen comes shortly after, with Europe challenging Monchengladbach also in the next 3 gameweeks.

Heung-Min Son - 89 LM - Spurs

Heung Min Son is the most expensive Headliners item in Team 2, coming in well over 1 million coins!

Spurs have certainly been in fine form this Premier League season, and have really come together under Jose Mourinho. With Liverpool and Chelsea in their next 5 fixtures in the league, it’ll be an interesting watch to see if they can get the all important wins for another upgrade to Sonny.

Riyad Mahrez - 87 RW - Manchester City - SBC Card

Available in SBCs until January 15th, costing around 200,000 coins, Riyad Mahrez is a very good value SBC that will have good chances of upgrading further throughout the remainder of the FUT calendar.

Upcoming Fixtures

Here are his upcoming domestic fixtures from January 11th onwards!

On first look, the next few matches for Manchester City look pretty favourable towards Riyad Mahrez receiving an extra upgrade for 4 consecutive wins.

With their next 3 fixtures at home to Brighton, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, you’d always back them at the Etihad, then the blue half of Manchester goes away to relegation bound West Brom.

Leon Goretzka - 87 CM - Bayern Munich

Bayern had to get some representation in the Headliners promotion, and they’ve certainly delivered, with midfield general Leon Goretzka receiving a card!

Upcoming Fixtures

Here are his upcoming domestic fixtures from January 11th onwards!

While Bayern may have lost their last game away to Borussia Monchengladbach, you’d still fancy them to bounce back and go on a run to kick start 2021.

With their next 5 games all being against teams in the mid-bottom half of the table, you’d definitely expect the European Champions to pick up a considerable chunk of points, but can they get 4 straight wins…

Hirving Lozano - 87 RW - Napoli

99 Pace Hirving Lozano bursts into the Headliners promotion, and with 3 TOTW cards so far, you can understand why!

Upcoming Fixtures

Here are his upcoming domestic fixtures from January 11th onwards!

By their standards, Napoli have been underperforming this year, sitting in 6th at the moment with 3 losses in their last 6 matches, so there are questions to be asked surrounding their potential to win 4 Serie A games on the bounce.

Theo Hernandez - 87 LB - Milan

Arguably the best non-icon full back in the game currently has to be Theo Hernandez, imagine what this card could look like with an upgrade or two!

Upcoming Fixtures

Here are his upcoming domestic fixtures from January 11th onwards!

Milan have already secured their first win of the 4 needed after beating Torino comfortably by 2 goals to nil at home on Saturday, but have a tricky game upcoming against 5th placed Atalanta.

If they can navigate that tricky fixture, they face a number of teams in the bottom half of the table that could be easily winnable.

Diego Carlos - 86 CB - Sevilla

The highest rated Headliners card at launch is Karim Benzema, who is still proving to be one of the best forwards in the world!

Upcoming Fixtures

Here are his upcoming domestic fixtures from January 11th onwards!

Sevilla only need to win another 3 games back to back to earn Diego Carlos his additional upgrade, after winning 3-2 on Saturday at home to Real Sociedad.

They face one of their hardest games of the season up next though on the 12th, as they travel to Atletico Madrid, a side who have only lost 1 game so far this season.

Danny Ings - 85 ST - Southampton

Southampton have been flying this season, and a major component of their success has been their main man Danny Ings!

Upcoming Fixtures

Here are his upcoming domestic fixtures from January 11th onwards!

Southampton may have beaten Liverpool 1-0 in the last Premier League gameweek, however, that’s their only win in the last 5 games, and with trips upcoming to Leicester, Leeds and Manchester United, they don’t have the easiest upcoming fixtures.

Karl Toko-Ekambi - 84 LW - Lyon

Toko-Ekambi has been in fine goalscoring form so far for Lyon, playing a large chunk of the season out on the left hand side of attack.

Upcoming Fixtures

Here are his upcoming domestic fixtures from January 11th onwards!

Lyon are having an awesome season so far, having lost only 1 game in Ligue 1 in the campaign thus far. With their next 5 games against teams in the bottom half of the table, it’s very possible that Lyon could string a run of wins together and earn Toko-Ekambi an upgrade all the way up to 86.

Rafinha - 84 CM - PSG

PSG get some representation in Headliners this year with Rafinha getting the call up, perhaps not the Brazilian from PSG we’d have hoped for...

Upcoming Fixtures

Here are his upcoming domestic fixtures from January 11th onwards!

PSG have already won the first game they’ll need for Rafinha to get an upgrade after beating Stade Brest 3-0 at home.

They face 6th, 7th and 8th in their next 5 games, but also play the bottom two sides as well, so it’s very possible they can string 3 more consecutive wins together.

Dayot Upamecano - 84 CB - RB Leipzig

Upamecano is on all the back pages linked to a tonne of high profile moves this January, making Headlines on and off the pitch for RB Leipzig.

Upcoming Fixtures

Here are his upcoming domestic fixtures from January 11th onwards!

RB Leipzig, unfortunately, lost at the weekend to Haland’s Dortmund, so we’re looking at the next 4 games for a potential upgrade. With 3 teams in the top 6 in the next 4 gameweeks, RB Leipzig will have to put in some impressive performances to secure Upamecano his upgrade from an 84 to an 86.
