June 29, 2021 - Wipe Confirmed

EFT Developer Battlestate Games have at long last confirmed a server wipe is coming. Writing on Twitter the devs told fans:

"There will be a wipe with patch 0.12.11"

But that was it. As noted by NME Gaming Editor Jake Tucker, these wipes typically occur on a Thursday.

As Battlestate Games had a sale to celebrate 0.12.11 from Friday to Sunday last week, it’s possible that the wipe was planned for last Thursday and was delayed.

So we could see the wipe coming this coming Thursday, which is July 1.

June 28, 2021 - So, it certainly looks like something is brewing in Escape From Tarkov. Although, not in the conventional sense. The team at Battlestate Games look to be running some sort of ARG which is weaving a narrative into the upcoming wipe, rather than simply telling fans 'there's a server wipe coming'.

We'd keep one eye on Battlestate Games Twitter account, which is increasingly sharing images of mock newspapers. The one below actually references 'a clean slate' in the copy according to the translation shared on the games sub-reddit.

It certainly appears as though the game is slowly moving towards a big in-game server wipe, as told though the games lore. Very exciting. Although, for now it's not entirely clear how long the teasers could go on for until we actually see a server wipe.

Stay tuned, as we suspect there will be plenty of news this week. More to follow.

June 24, 2021 - When asked about a potential server wipe a few days ago, Nikita Buyanov - who is the COO Battlestate Games and Escape from Tarkov game director - said "I can't tell you." [Twitch Gaming interview]

A reminder that this doesn't mean a wipe is coming soon, but simply that there's no official update on when the next server wipe is taking place.

When is the Next 2021 Server Wipe in Escape From Tarkov?

Update - It has now been confirmed a wipe is coming, although there's no official date provided for when the wipe will take place. More to follow.

As the time of writing, there is still no announcement about the server wipe in EFT in 2021. Battlestate Games would most likely announce this a day or two prior to the wipe, so we will let you know as soon as possible once the server wipe schedule is already revealed.

The last wipe in EFT happened last December 24, 2020, during the arrival of path 0.12.9. The wipe schedule is usually based on historical data, and it is safe to say that it could happen every six or ten months.

Based on this, we can assume that we might see the next wipe take place in July 2021.

What Happens During a Wipe in Escape From Tarkov?

Aside from resetting the players’ characters in EFT, wipes usually coincide with the release of updates in the game. There is a big chance that there would be new maps, features, tasks, and objectives once a wipe would take place.

Additionally, new items can also be up for grabs whenever a wipe is scheduled in EFT. This would not just boost the existing players’ morale to grind in the game, but could also attract new players to try and somehow be hooked with the game’s tactical shooter nature.
