Day 2 of the DOTA 2 WePlay AniMajor Playoffs saw four teams make their exit from the tournament after failing to advance in the next stage of the competition.
TNC Predator vs Team Aster
The squad from the Philippines TNC Predator faced China’s number one Team Aster in the first match of day 2. The team from China nabbed the win on game 1, but it was the Filipino pride who closed out the series with a win, allowing them to advance in the lower bracket semi-finals.
Game 1 was clearly favoring the side of Team Aster. But TNC managed to come back in game 2 after being dominated by Team Aster by as much as a 10-kill difference. The momentum continued to game 3 where TNC Predator emerged victorious, closing out the series 2-1, and eventually eliminating Team Aster from the competition.
Team Spirit vs Alliance
The second match of day 2 was between CIS’ Team Spirit vs EU’s top dog team The Alliance. And after 3 games of action-packed DOTA 2 gameplays, the team from CIS bested EU’s number one team.
The first game went on the side of Team Spirit. Game 2 was more of a different story, and Alliance tied the series and forced a game 3. However, it was still Team Spirit who proved they are the better team and ended the series in a dominating fashion after a kill score of 25-2, and an overall 2-1 series lead. The Alliance became the 2nd team to be eliminated from the playoffs.
Vici Gaming vs Virtus.pro
Match number three saw Vici Gaming from China beating CIS’ Virtus.pro in another three-game classic that has put an end to the latter’s AniMajor Playoffs run.
Vici Gaming took game 1 by storm but Virtus.pro bounced back and notched the victory in game 2, sending the series to a deciding game 3. But the team from CIS did not manage to continue their momentum in the final game of the series, and Vici Gaming sealed the deal, scoring an overall 2-1 series lead. Virtus.pro bid their goodbye from the tournament.
Evil Geniuses vs NoPing Esports
The fourth and final match of day 2 ended in another 2-1 series as Evil Geniuses from NA pulled off the victory to eliminate SA’s number one team NoPing Esports in a do-or-die lower bracket match.
Evil Geniuses opened up the series with a bang after winning game 1. NoPing, however, turned the tables and took game 2, eventually forcing a game 3. But Evil Geniuses dismantled the defense of NoPing in the deciding game, making them the overall triumphant team in the series. NoPing Esports is now out of the competition, and Evil Geniuses continue their way to the playoffs.
DOTA 2 WePlay AniMajor Playoffs Day 2 Aftermath
All the victorious teams from the second day of the playoffs will advance to the lower bracket semi-finals. It will be TNC Predator vs Evil Geniuses, and Team Spirit vs Vici Gaming. The winners of the lower bracket semis will face the losers of the upper bracket semi-finals, where they could face T1, PSG.LGD, Quincy Crew, or Team Nigma.
