Destiny 2 Beyond Light: Dead Exo Locations and How To Get The Lament Exotic Sword

The Lament is a new exotic weapon in Destiny 2 Beyond Light.

It’s a giant sword-chainsaw, a chain-sword if you will, and will absolutely decimate foes.

The first perk is Banshee’s Wail, by pressing the Aim button (LT on Xbox, L2 on PlayStation and the Right Mouse click on PC) you can rev the blade.

This will bypass shields and deal shield-piercing damage to those annoying Strike foes!

You’ll also gain stacks for dealing revved attack damage, stacks which make The Lament way more powerful!

If this wasn’t good enough, Tireless Blade will make The Lament produce Sword Ammo every other kill, and damage dealt while revved heals you thanks to Revved Consumption.

This thing not only looks cool but is absolutely ready to just kill.

How to Unlock The Lament Exotic Sword

Now that the raid has been completed, the quest has unlocked.

This is your last warning!

Step 1 - Locate and scan 3 dead Exos on Europa

Dead Exo Locations:

The easiest three in our experience are in a side room in Bray Exoscience (to the right of the big opening area), under a staircase in the Bunker E15 lost sector in Eventide Ruins, and on a raised bit of ice in Cadmus Ridge.

Step 2 - Locate the Giant Exo hidden in the Exo facility

Head into Bray Exoscience, and you'll find a new door has opened. Follow the path and you'll find a giant Exo head to interact with.

Step 3 - Prove yourself to the Clovis AI by using Swords against the Vex across Europa

• Vex defeated with Swords: 0/100
• Minotaur, Hydra, Cyclops Sword final blows: 0/20

Our recommendation is to head to the Perdition Lost Sector and pick your sword of choice. It'll still work even when you're out of sword ammo.

Step 4 - Acquire and complete quests from Commander Zavala and Variks to prove yourself to the Clovis AI

• "Reclaiming Europa" 
• "Empire's Fall" 
• "The Dark Priestess" 

The post-campaign missions can be grabbed from Zavala and Variks, but if you've already done it, the game will skip this step.

Step 5 - Prove your worth to the Clovis AI by completing an Exo Challenge

Speak to Variks and complete an Exo Challenge.

This one was somewhat tricky, requiring plenty of platforming in and around slaying plenty of Vex. Thankfully, if you die you can respawn with no consequences.

Step 6 - Defeat Vex with finishers. Defeating powerful Vex grants the most efficient progress

• Vex defeated with finishers: 0/60

Again, go to the Perdition Lost Sector.

Step 7 - Access the strike "The Glassway" and locate the blade pieces within

This doesn't need to be done via the Strike playlist, so you just head to the strike from the Director and grab the blade pieces from one of the final enemies.

Step 8 - Head back to the Tower and speak to Banshee-44

Step 9 - Search Eventide Ruins for an abandoned bunker and explore inside

Head to lost sector Bunker E15 in Eventide Ruins, clear out the enemies, kill the boss and open the chest.

Step 10 - Complete the mission "Reforging the Past" to save the Clovis AI from being destroyed

Trigger the quest and fight your way through the enemies to reach the Giant Exo again.

Halfway through, you'll be awarded the Lament which will make clearing the last few enemies a lot easier.

Step 11 - Head back to the Tower and report your discoveries to Banshee-44

Ta-da! The Lament is yours.
