Mike Pondsmith's dystopian RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, is gradually becoming the game to look out for this year, despite the lengthy delays that it has suffered so far.

The M-rated game is being developed by CD Projekt Red and is allegedly in the latter stages of development, but what exactly goes into the development process for a AAA title?

Continue reading below as we dive into the studio's development process, budget and goals for their next big project, Cyberpunk 2077.

Surpassing Expectations

CD Projekt Red will be sparing no expense with this game.

This was actually confirmed when Adam Kicinski of CD Projekt spoke to a Polish outlet (Puls Biznesu) about the upcoming game, noting that the budget is expected to surpass that of The Witcher 3.

Kicinski notes that The Witcher 3 cost well over $85 million in the end, with production costs totalling around $25 million and other indirect expenses adding up.

Greater Potential

Now, Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to be even more expensive to produce, but the studio believes that it will pay off in the end.

Perhaps this is because the studio thinks that the futuristic game will have a much higher sales potential than The Witcher 3, and that's not because of Keanu Reeves' role in the game!

CDPR's aspirations for their upcoming blockbuster are clearly very high, but considering how long this game has been in development, there is no reason for them not to be.
