Throughout Season 1 of Warzone Pacific, numerous Double Weapon XP events took place, acting as a temporary fix to the slow progression speed. The change first revealed in a Call of Duty blog post will enable players to work their way through the levels of each weapon with ease, increasing weapon variety used as part of a loadout.

"Season Two is also increasing Weapon XP earn rates in Warzone, as well as significantly boosting Daily Challenge XP rewards."

Why Did Warzone Weapon XP Change?

The previous Weapon XP progression rate was far too slow, much to the annoyance of players that couldn't spend time earning enough XP to unlock the best attachments for each gun. The change is a step in the right direction and will allow more players to use attachment combinations considered a part of the ever-changing metagame.
