Despite possessing incredible power, Light Machine Guns (LMG) never secure a permanent place within the Warzone metagame. Thanks to regular doses of weapon balancing from Raven Software, the Season 4 meta changes on a regular basis.

Although the guns change, the idea of using a larger barrel combined with a huge magazine remains the same which detracts from the large variety of available attachments.

With some players already turning their attention to what Season 5 of the battle royale has in store, many want major LMG buffs in order to spice up the meta even further.

Warzone Players Want Major LMG Buffs

In recent Warzone seasons, the likes of the Bruen MK9 and the Bren make their way into the meta that often features a wide range of assault rifles and submachine guns.

Before they have a chance to dominate, the developer often nerfs them resulting in a meta filled with ARs. In a recent Reddit post, user "lonlyPlayAOE3" explains why LMGs struggle to earn an "identity" within Warzone.

The player says the integration of Vanguard's arsenal along with the option to equip ten attachments plays a role in creating a lack of weapon variety. "WZ over time has completely blurred the lines between what an LMG should be good at," states the player.

Those in the comments seem to agree. One user says an assault rifle should act as a middle ground between an SMG and an LMG rather than a weapon capable of functioning in any situation.

On the other hand, some worry about LMGs replacing ARs in the meta if Raven Software decides to buff them. With Warzone 2 on the horizon, can Infinity Ward implement some kind of balance to create a meta full of different weaponry?
