Call of Duty: Vanguard releases in just under a month and the excitement within the community is slowly beginning to build ahead of the latest instalment in the storied first-person shooter franchise. Developer Sledgehammer Games has been quiet since the second beta weekend came to an end but on October 12th, the developer and Activision released a brand-new campaign trailer shedding some light on the characters that feature in the story.
Alongside more details on the heroes and villains of the Vanguard story, players got a closer look at the four theatres of war, showcasing the range of environments that will be included in the missions.
Vanguard Campaign Trailer
The two-minute trailer adds even more background information to the members of Task Force One along with unveiling some new intel on previously unknown characters that will be key in preventing the launch of Project Phoenix.
Call of Duty: Vanguard Campaign Characters
Sergeant Arthur Kingsley
Described as the "heart and leader of Task Force One," Kingsley is likely to be the main focus of the story. Having studied at the University of Cambridge before joining the British Army, Kingsley is intent on putting a stop to Project Phoenix and the Nazis.
Lieutenant 1st Class Wade Jackson
Brooklyn-born Jackson is an ex-hotshot pilot that was capable of dealing with any aerial opponent in the skies of the Pacific. Now a member of Task Force One, Jackson isn't afraid to go about business as a lone wolf using daring tactics in order to get the job done.
Private Lucas Riggs
When he's not working on his sheep farm near Melbourne, Riggs' knowledge of explosives comes into play as part of Task Force One. Riggs often values his squadmates and country above his own and is prepared to show what the Australians can do on the battlefield.
Lieutenant Polina Petrova
Known for her incredible skill with a sniper rifle, Petrova often utilises her actions to showcase her opinions. Looking to score redemption after Stalingrad was invaded by the Axis, her desire to free her hometown from Nazi capture sometimes takes priority over her duties in Task Force One.
Sargeant Richard Webb
Webb is the right-hand man of Kingsley, often using intelligence and caution when approaching the task at hand. Despite having no intention to fight in World War 2, his role in Task Force One and stubbornness can sometimes lead to conflict between him and Kingsley.
SS Oberst-Gruppenführer Hermann Wenzel Freisinger
Freisinger is the main villain of the Vanguard campaign. The chief interrogator of the SS and mastermind behind Project Phoenix aims to make the project a reality, sparing nobody in order to execute the plan.
Call of Duty: Vanguard Campaign Mission Locations
The Vanguard campaign spans across four theatres of war containing missions situated on the Eastern and Western Fronts along with the Pacific and Northern Africa. Throughout the trailer, there are various locations showcased including one scene that features Kingsley drowning in the ocean. There are dogfights taking place above the dense jungle too.
Based on the trailer, the campaign looks to be one of the very best ever seen in a Call of Duty title, and although it's unclear as to which character you will play as, it's clear to see that you'll play an integral part in halting Project Phoenix once and for all.
