The release of Call of Duty: Vanguard is just a few weeks away and as the excitement begins to build, Sledgehammer Games has unveiled a wealth of information surrounding the single-player campaign, much to the excitement of the community.

Set across four different theatres of war, Vanguard's campaign is said to be a gritty view of a conflict set in the final days of World War 2, with players getting to experience a number of missions taking place across the world. During the world premiere event, CouRageJD got an opportunity to showcase one of the missions from the campaign. The footage shows Polina attempting to cross an open area while coming under fire from two sniper rifles in the distance. It's safe to say that CouRage needs to work on his aim.

With four days until the launch of Vanguard, some players are beginning to wonder how long the single-player campaign is going to be. The campaign length of a Call of Duty game has varied over the years, but with all the different theatres of war involved in Vanguard's story, we can expect it to be a minimum of 12 missions to play.

As we move closer to release, Activision has revealed details on Vanguard's file size revealing how much hard drive space will be needed. Thankfully, players won't have their entire hard drives taken up by the new game! Alongside the file size of the full game, @PlaystationSize has managed to uncover the exact size of the campaign for several regions.

As the build-up to Vanguard's launch begins, Activision and Sledgehammer Games have revealed details on Sergeant Richard Webb, the fifth member of Task Force One. This particular Operator is Kingsley's second-in-command after reluctantly enlisting into the army.

According to a blog post, Webb and Kingsley's relationship reaches "breaking point" during Operation Tonga, implying plenty of friction within the Task Force.

During the opening night of Gamescom, Sledgehammer Games unveiled the first look at the Vanguard campaign. The trailer focuses on Polina, one of the four main protagonists. which has had their home destroyed by enemy fighter planes.

While no official information surrounding the Achievements for Vanguard's campaign has been revealed, a recent leak has managed to uncover a complete list of objectives to complete throughout a number of missions. As mentioned above, the campaign will span across four unique theatres of war, the Eastern Front, Western Front, Africa, and the Pacific. With plenty of unique environments and settings that will feature throughout the campaign, there are a number of opportunities for Sledgehammer Games to maximise the power of the IW8 engine to create the most immersive story in the history of the franchise.

COD Vanguard Campaign Story

According to Sledgehammer Games, the campaign will follow the stories of four soldiers facing a number of obstacles standing in their way. They eventually join forces to become the first Operatives of Task Force One, an early iteration of a special forces unit aiming to take down the enemy as they attempt to uncover the secrets of Project Phoenix, an attempt at a second Nazi uprising in the days leading up to the conclusion of World War 2.

The four main protagonists of Vanguard's campaign have been inspired by soldiers that fought during the war. Here's a full list of playable characters:

  • Sgt. Arthur Kingsley - 9th Parachute Battalion, British Army - Inspired by Sidney Cornell.
  • Private Lucas Riggs, 20th Battalion, Australian 9th Infantry Division - British Eighth Army - Inspired by Charles Upham.
  • Lt. Wade Jackson - Scouting Squadron Six - United States Navy - Inspired by Vernon "Mike" Micheel.
  • Lt. Polina Petrova - 138th Rifle Division - Red Army - Inspired by Lyudmila Pavlichenko.

To voice these heroes of the war, a number of well-known voice actors have been recruited to tell the story of Task Force One and their battle against Operation Phoenix.
