Alongside huge content drops for Warzone and Vanguard multiplayer, the game's Zombies experience is also set for a wide range of all-new features in Season 2, much to the excitement of the community.
Zombies developer Treyarch is aiming to create a unique undead experience despite the lack of a round-based map. Der Anfang launched without a main Easter Egg quest, Wonder Weapons, and no round-based action Zombies is synonymous with.
On February 8, Activision published a blog detailing the new content ranging from the return of classic Wonder Weapons to a brand-new Objective for players to complete.
Vanguard Zombies Season 2 Map
The multiplayer map of Red Star currently acts as a hub for each gateway in Der Anfang and in Season 2, a new experience called "Terra Maledicta" will arrive. Set in the Egyptian desert, players will access new gateways alongside the Dark Aether.
Within the Dark Aether is a "beachhead" where players can obtain a page from the Tome of Rituals.
Vanguard Zombies Season 2 Entities
The current chapter of the Dark Aether story involves players taking on an evil entity with the help of other supernatural beings that provide advantages. The latest to arrive is Vercanna the Last. Through the Wand of the Wilds Artefact, players can receive an instant boost of health through mystical beams of light. Check out the upgrade tiers for the ability below:
- Tier I (Base): The Wand of the Wilds summons Vercanna’s Life Energy to instantly heal yourself and allies to full health.
- Tier II: Knock down normal enemies and stun Special enemies near each player.
- Tier III: Revive all downed allies.
- Tier IV: Revived allies have their lost Perks returned.
- Tier V: The Life Energy persists at each player’s location for 10 seconds and continues to heal and revive players.
In addition to a new ally, a new villain has joined forces with Kortifex. Zaballa the Deceiver can bring players to their knees in an instant through electrical eruptions.

Vanguard Zombies Season 2 Wonder Weapons
Much to the delight of players, Wonder Weapons are arriving in the Season 2 update. The iconic Ray Gun is returning alongside a new addition known as the Decimator Shield. Capable of fending off the undead, the shield also features a Decimation Blast ability likely to be useful in sticky situations.
Vanguard Zombies Season 2 Objectives
The latest Objective to complete in Vanguard Zombies is 'Sacrifice'. It involves players encouraging Syphoncores to suck the essence from nearby Zombies but once the sacrifice has finished, a new wave of undead opposition will spawn in.
Vanguard Zombies Season 2 Easter Eggs
Last and by no means least, Treyarch has confirmed Easter Eggs are returning to Call of Duty Zombies! While Season 2 won't feature a main Easter Egg quest, a smaller objective inspired by Origins from Black Ops 2 is appearing. What secrets does Terra Maledicta have to offer?
