OpTic Texas Signs Prolute to Starting Roster

As preparation turns towards the Toronto Major, OpTic Texas has announced the signing of Challengers player Byron 'Prolute' Vera. As a result, Prolute will slot into the starting lineup of the Green Wall while Indervir 'iLLeY' Dhaliwal recovers from injury.

The change follows a third-place finish at the Call of Duty League's (CDL) Pro-Am Classic where the top four Challengers teams battled against all 12 teams competing in the CDL.

Despite iLLeY attempting to play through the injury, the Green Wall will look slightly different heading into the second half of the Vanguard season.

Prolute Joins OpTic Texas

Despite OpTic substitute Jordon General managing to temporarily fill the hole left by iLLeY, the team is opting for a player better suited to their role. General did manage to impress but the arrival of Prolute should allow the rest of the squad to maintain their roles without having to adjust.

OpTic Texas currently sit in second place with 165 CDL points to their name. With a 15-point gap between the Green Wall and Atlanta FaZe, ensuring minimal disruption is key if the team is to remain near the top of the table.

Prolute is no stranger to top-level competition. Prior to receiving the call-up, they competed for the New York Subliners academy team in Challengers throughout 2021.

Prolute will make their debut for OpTic Texas when the Major 3 qualifiers begin on May 13. All 12 teams will play over three weeks of online competition to determine the seeding for the Toronto Major taking place at the beginning of June.

Although Prolute's inclusion in the starting lineup is temporary, it's a great opportunity to showcase their skills against the very best players on the planet.
