Los Angeles Guerrillas Take Shock Victory at CDL Major 2


The second Call of Duty League (CDL) Major of the Vanguard season was one for the history books. While many members of the community was wondering which teams could dethrone OpTic Texas, several new contenders shot into the limelight.

Before any matches took place, very few expected the Los Angeles Guerrillas to make an impact with Kris 'Spart' Cervantez filling in for an unwell Pierce 'Gunless' Hillman.

To the surprise of everyone, Spart excelled under the pressure, helping the team make an unprecedented run to the title, defeating Atlanta FaZe in the grand finals.

Los Angeles Guerrillas Win CDL Major 2

Beginning the tournament in the first round of the elimination bracket meant achieving victory was always going to prove a tricky task, even without a substitute slotting into the starting lineup. Despite the odds, the Guerrillas defeated Toronto Ultra, London Royal Ravens, Seattle Surge, Florida Mutineers, and Boston Breach to book their place in the grand finals for the first time in the history of the franchise.

Beating Atlanta FaZe was never going to be a tricky task but with the surprise appearance of the Volk assault rifle, LA secured victory with an impressive 5-2 scoreline.

With Gunless expected to return from a spell on the sidelines and with Spart immediately making an impact, the victory leaves the Guerrillas in a tricky position. Does it revert to its previous roster or does Spart receive a promotion from the substitute's bench?

With the third Major of the year not taking place until the beginning of June, there's a high change the LA Guerrillas and several other teams as the competition begins to heat up.
