The countdown to the launch of Modern Warfare 2 is underway following the worldwide reveal.

Fans received their first look at Infinity Ward's upcoming title and a wealth of intel on the single-player campaign including which characters will appear. The seven-minute trailer impressed many despite the footage coming from a pre-alpha build of the game.

Along with a look at gunplay and movement mechanics, the audio struck a chord with many watching. While the visuals looked great, it was the immersive sounds that stole the show, with many picking up on subtle changes to add an extra layer of realism.

"Amazing" Modern Warfare 2 Audio Impresses Fans

The short clip of Operation Dark Water shows an action-packed mission where members of Task Force 141 need to locate the controls of a missile on an oil rig.

The transition from sunset to darkness adds some incredible visual details along with the audio which sounds like a significant improvement from previous titles.

Notable Call of Duty leaker "TheGhostOfHope" highlights the Modern Warfare 2 audio during a sequence where the character speaks inside a room before moving out into the open. The difference certainly adds a new layer of immersion.

2019's Modern Warfare also included plenty of innovations that have become staples of the franchise. It appears Infinity Ward is continuing to set the bar with Modern Warfare 2 set to raise it when the full game launches in October.

Including Infinity Ward, there are 11 studios working on Modern Warfare 2 in some capacity. In addition to the audio, fans are already looking forward to seeing what other changes arrive in the full build of the game.
