Should You Spare or Kill Ciara in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Wrath of the Druids DLC?

Whether or not you spare or kill Ciara in the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Wrath of the Druids DLC is not actually the most difficult choice, as either way the major problems are resolved, but in one of them Ciara gets to survive. Ciara is asking you to kill her to prevent the Lia Fail stone from being misused, as the last one capable of harnessing its power, but there’s other solutions as detailed in the “spare” option. Either way, you’ll know you’ve reached the choice when these dialogue options come up.

  1. An honourable death.
  2. I can’t kill you.

We’ll play through the consequences either way by outlining them below.

Spare Ciara

If you choose “I can’t kill you” and spare Ciara’s life, things turn out pretty well regardless. Eivor convinces Ciara to destroy the stone instead, reasoning that spirits in the afterlife don’t actually care about a rock here, and Ciara channels the last of her power to blow it up in an explosion of green energy. Flann comes to and apologises to Ciara, telling her that he gave into weakness and that he will rescind his inquisition against the druids. Ciara acknowledges this, but says she’s going to leave Ireland, only giving Eivor a cryptic/sad expression when asked where she’ll go. The game then cuts to a sequence at the graveyard outside Dublin, which plays the same no matter what you picked.

Kill Ciara

If you choose “An honourable death” and kill Ciara, Eivor cuts her throat with an axe for a quick death, killing her instantly. King Flann wakes up and mourns her loss, before angrily attacking the Lia Fail rock with his sword. As he does so, it’s overwhelmed by magical energy and explodes, killing the plant life in a circle around it, though Eivor and Flann are fine. Flann kneels over Ciara’s body and apologises, again rescinding the inquisition against the druids. It then cuts to the sequence at the Dublin graveyard mentioned above.

Which is the Best Choice?

Speaking personally, sparing Ciara seems like the far better option, because… well, Ciara doesn’t have to die at all for this to work out. There’s no actual further consequences for either choice that we could find beyond this immediate cinematic, so we figure it’s probably better to have Ciara live and the Lia Fail rock break, especially considering it’s made clear that either way, nobody will ever be able to use its power again.
