Raids

One of the big new gameplay additions in Valhalla is the ability to raid settlements.

These bloody, exciting battles not only offer a great chance to test out Eivor's combat prowess but are often very lucrative in terms of resources and wealth.

Once your settlement is established, it's worth heading to as many of the lower-level raids as possible in order to tick them off of your list.

Doing so will see your settlement level up at an accelerated pace.

Build A Barracks

Vikings might be famous for their looting and pillaging, but they'll still need a rest every so often.

The Barracks is a structure that can be built fairly early on and will let your squad of bearded raiders get some rest between raids.

You'll also gain access to the Quartermaster, a character who will let you nominate a "Jomsviking" – essentially a lieutenant.

Not only does your second-in-command go out into the game world to ensure your enemies are terrified even while Eivor is off completing side quests, but they can be hired by other players online – helping bring in more currency to upgrade your settlement as a whole.

Not So Hidden Ones

The unimaginatively titled "Hidden Ones Bureau" allows for Eivor to accept quests from the precursors to the Assassin Brotherhood, the Hidden Ones.

These missions can often uncover plenty of mysteries from the wider franchise, and usually result in some nifty bonuses too.

Go Fish

Once you've constructed a fishing hut, you can head anywhere there's water and try your hand at angling.

Some fish offer specific rewards when turned in back at the hut, while many can simply be sold to earn silver.

Lead A Horse To Water

We can't stress this enough, but building a stable and teaching your horse to swim is a huge boost to Eivor's ability to navigate the open world.

Black Flag (Sort of)

The Shipyard will, as you can probably guess, allow you to customise your ship.

Unlock it early to make Eivor's settlement a terrifying naval power.

Eat And Be Merry

Once you've reached level 4 for your settlement, be sure to throw a feast.

This is done by ringing the bell at your longhouse and will buff Eivor and your raiding party's stats for a time.

That's handy when taking on a tougher raid, but the buffs only increase as your settlement expands.
