It's finally official, after lengthy rumors and leaks, Halo is coming to PlayStation 5 with Halo: Campaign Evolved, a re-reimagining of the original Halo: Combat Evolved story that helped propel Microsoft's Xbox launch all the way back in 2001.
The announcement dropped on October 24, after multiple leaks suggested that the now-called Halo Studios was set to announce a new title in the franchise, whether a follow-up to Infinite or yet another Halo CE remake. It turned out to be the latter.
Halo Studios dropped a bunch of cool videos on their YouTube channel, including an impressive 13-minute walkthrough of the iconic Silent Cartographer mission. The game's visuals are top-notch, with the game running smoothly on an Xbox Series X. Take a peek below:
When Is Halo: Campaign Evolved Coming Out?
Halo Campaign Evolved is set to come out in 2026. There were rumors of a potential shadow drop, which didn't come to pass, of course.
This is going to be the second remake of the original Halo CE after the first one came out back in 2011. Halo CE Anniversary was followed by Halo 2 Anniversary. Sadly, issues with the launch of Halo: Master Chief Collection got in the way of 343 Studios developing a third entry in the Anniversary set of re-releases, leaving Halo 3 fans like me with not a single remake as of 2025.
Another interesting tidbit we can infer from the title and the complete absence from the initial marketing blitz is that this game does not seem to have a multiplayer component. It will ship with co-op, both split-screen and online, but the title Campaign Evolved has led many to believe the focus of this release will be entirely on the single-player aspect of the game.
And that's. Stick with us at Gfinityesports.com as we'll have much more Halo coverage in the coming weeks and months.
