Pikachu is getting a major redesign for the upcoming Gen 10 Pokemon games. At least according to leaks, and coming from a reputable source as CentroLeaks, it's basically all but confirmed.

The yellow rodent has been a staple of pop culture for almost 30 years at this point, so having different iterations seems par for the course. This new one may cause some mixed reactions, as the current Pikachu design isn't really something Pokefans around the world see as one in desperate need of a shakeup.

From the looks of it, this new Pikachu redesign takes inspiration from the Pokemon Generations animated shorts, in which the little rat is far more nimble than any of its previous iterations. Its body is slimmer, and the face takes on a more rounded shape. Take a look at a quick comparison shared by CentroLeaks down below:

CentroLeaks, if you aren't aware, is perhaps the most trusted source when it comes to Pokemon leaks. At the very least, it is the most popular one. If something comes from Centro, you'll likely find that there's a semblance of truth or outright correctness, making the account extremely reliable. During the massive leak spree, they also revealed information of a dream-like Pokemon MMO featuring multiple regions set to come out in 2028-2029.

In any case, if you've been around long enough, you likely remember the original Pikachu design. Far chubbier and less built like an agile rodent, this design would eventually be known as Fat Pikachu among the fanbase. This design was revisited when Pikachu got a Gigantamax form during Pokemon Sword and Shield.

The most iconic look is definitely the one that was popularized during the mid-2000s. Slimmer than Fat Pikachu but still retaining some of its charm, it made for the perfect mascot to propel the Pokemon IP to the stratosphere.
