No Day-One Game Pass for Battlefield 6, But EA Has Another Route

Anyone expecting Battlefield 6 to show up on Xbox Game Pass the day it launches might want to hold back those hopes.

Even though EA has worked closely with Microsoft in the past and plenty of its games eventually land on Game Pass, this time the launch route is different.

EA has decided to steer Battlefield 6 away from Microsoft’s subscription service (at least for now) and instead anchor it behind its own premium membership: EA Play Pro.

Is EA Play Pro Worth It for Battlefield 6?

While Game Pass users are sitting this one out (for now), EA Play Pro subscribers are getting the full VIP treatment.

That includes day-one access to the Phantom Edition of Battlefield 6, which packs in the base game along with some major bonuses like Season 1’s battle pass, unique cosmetics, XP boosts, and more.

This version typically costs around $100, but it’s bundled as part of the EA Play Pro subscription for $17/month or $120/year.

More than just early access to the full game, EA Play Pro members are also getting early entry into the Battlefield 6 open beta.

Specifically, they’ll be able to jump in on August 7–8, two days before the wider open beta opens on August 9.

That early window is also available to people who joined the Battlefield Labs program before July 31 or received special codes through platforms like Twitch.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers only get a 10-hour trial, but EA Play Pro members jump in with full access and all extras from the start.

Why Did EA Skip Game Pass This Time?

Battlefield 6 isn’t coming to Game Pass on day one, despite what some say.

The lack of any mention in trailers or announcements backs this up.

Even the official Battlefield 6 store page doesn’t carry the Game Pass label, which would’ve been added if it were launching there.

Given EA’s track record, this silence is confirmation enough. It’s a repeat of what happened with Battlefield 2042, which didn’t come to Game Pass at launch either.

That one joined the library roughly a year later, and chances are Battlefield 6 will follow a similar pattern—especially if it maintains strong post-launch momentum.

That said, Game Pass Ultimate members do still get standard EA Play as part of their plan.

But this only includes a 10-hour early access trial, not the full game. Players can try the campaign and multiplayer, but only within that time limit.

Why Is EA Pushing EA Play Pro So Hard?

This move by EA clearly targets increasing interest and subscriptions for EA Play Pro, their more profitable but less popular option.

With a highly anticipated title like Battlefield 6 leading the charge, the company is banking on loyal players choosing Pro access for a premium experience.

EA Play Pro also includes a vault of older games, exclusive monthly rewards, and discounts on digital content, all of which help sweeten the deal.

From EA’s perspective, this is a better long-term play than letting a massive release go straight into Game Pass, where they’d have less control over player spending habits.

Could Battlefield 6 Still Join Game Pass Later?

Most likely, yes—but patience is important since EA usually adds its biggest games to Game Pass eventually, especially after initial sales and Pro subscriptions slow down.

If Battlefield 6 follows the pattern of 2042, Hardline, or Battlefield 1, it could end up on the service within a year or so.

But there’s no guarantee—and definitely no reason to expect it any sooner.
