And just like that, Marvel Rivals has gone off the deep end... and not in a bad way. As the Pym Test Kitchen event went live on December 18, players casually hanging out in the Times Square social hub are now confronted by 20-foot-tall heroes, most notably Eddie Brock’s Venom, twerking endlessly for who knows how long.
What Does Pym’s Test Kitchen Event Do in Marvel Rivals?

Pym’s Test Kitchen is a gimmick event located in the Times Square social hub, and players who eat a Pym sandwich will either shrink or grow for a duration of an hour. There’s no official explanation for why NetEase created this event, but we believe it has something to do with Ant-Man’s abilities in the future.
Marvel Rivals’ Times Square is Overrun by Giant Twerking Venoms

As far as festivities go, what makes this event even more hilarious is that players are having the time of their lives using Venom, turning him big, and twerking endlessly. Whether NetEase intended this silly goof or not doesn't matter, as everyone is already strapped to their chairs and watching these gigantic characters populate New York’s busiest area.
Some players are even using Pym’s sandwiches to accentuate certain heroes’ body proportions. Characters like Emma Frost, Luna Snow, and even Rogue steal the spotlight from Venom’s twerking talents with their humongous sizes. Once again, making it harder and harder to defend Marvel Rivals players from the gooner allegations.
What this Event Means for Marvel Rivals’ Future

The event is a complete mess, but in a good way. For an added temporary gimmick in Marvel Rivals’ social hub, it feels like a natural evolution for the hero-shooters’ celebration of Marvel characters. But on a more speculative take, this might be NetEase’s way of adding more silly events like this into the Times Square social hub. It could also serve as a playtest for mechanics that might appear in future heroes’ kits. The Times Square hub can hold up to 100 players, making it ideal for testing such interactions.
We could see more events like these in future updates, where everyone can do something other than just hang out and talk to each other. Some of the stores (which we can only window shop in) might open, and more activities will be available. Some notable examples would be reading free Marvel comics or watching clips from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. NetEase could also set up Times Square for showcasing trailers of upcoming Marvel titles like Avengers: Doomsday.
But I digress. What matters now is seeing this event flourish for odd and hilarious reasons. You don’t always see 20-foot-tall characters twerking in a Marvel game, do you?
