It’s been almost a decade since Quantum Break released on Microsoft and Xbox consoles. PlayStation users, on the other hand, are still left hanging dry as Microsoft and Remedy’s console-exclusive deal places the cult-favorite indefinitely on hold.

With the current state of Microsoft and Xbox over the past few years, there’s a high possibility that Jack Joyce’s time-bending adventures might make it to PlayStation consoles.

Microsoft’s Exclusivity Philosophy Has Changed

Remedy no longer has intellectual ties to the Quantum Break franchise. Since Microsoft announced its new business strategy of bringing acclaimed AAA titles to PlayStation consoles, porting exclusive Microsoft titles changed. Notable examples of these console exclusives include Hi-Fi Rush, Halo: Campaign Involved, and their Minecraft-like sandbox, Grounded. They are now playable on PlayStation 5, bringing these acclaimed titles to a wider audience.

This is the most telling possibility that we might get Quantum Break for PlayStation consoles soon. Microsoft is no longer as protective of its favored IPs as it once was. Quantum Break is exactly the kind of legacy exclusive Microsoft can just give away.

Connection to the Remedy Connected Universe

Unlike Alan Wake and Control, Quantum Break doesn’t exist within the Remedy Connected Universe despite the many strange coincidences.

The community has long given up on it being part of the RCU, but some players still hold on to the thought that there might be possible connections, considering Shawn Ashmore’s character, Tim Breaker, is a major character in Alan Wake 2. He’s also trapped between dimensions in the Night Springs DLC, where players discover connections between him and Quantum Break’s Jack Joyce as ‘dimension-traveling’ characters.

Remedy Entertainment has also stated that while Quantum Break is no longer part of the Remedy Connected Universe, it is still a game worth playing if you enjoy the studio’s high-concept and surrealist elements.

Quantum Break on PlayStation 5 Would Go Hard

Jack Joyce’s adventures were the studio’s first foray into videogame and cinematic territory, blending high-quality FMVs with videogame motion capture. Playing Quantum Break on PlayStation 5 would feel right at home, as the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers could add an extra layer of immersion to its fluid third-person gameplay.

Given PlayStation’s long history with cinematic titles, a game like Quantum Break would not feel out of place among its existing audience.

Ultimately, as Microsoft’s change of heart in the past few years, there may be no need to beg Microsoft to bring Quantum Break to PlayStation consoles. It would also serve as a gesture of goodwill from the fans, as bringing Jack Joyce’s adventure to PlayStation would complete Remedy’s catalog of modern titles. With Control: Resonant just around the corner, Quantum Break serves as a strong primer for new Remedy fans interested in its twisted storytelling.
