Is Physint Still Releasing on PlayStation? What We Know

Earlier this month, the gaming community was rocked after Sony revealed they were pulling out of supporting Physint, a project Hideo Kojima has described as the culmination of more than 40 years of his career.

Sony stopped supporting the project in mid-June, and by September, Kojima Productions revealed they formed a partnership with Xbox to not only release Physint, but also other IPs that can expand beyond video games.

This has caused many to wonder: Will PlayStation gamers still be able to play Physint? Here's what we know.

Will Physint Still Release on PlayStation 5?

Currently, it's unknown whether or not Physint will be available on the PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Pro.

During an interview with IGN, Hideo Kojima was directly asked whether Physint will come to PlayStation after Kojima Productions' split with Sony. He told the publication, “I don’t know the answer to that—that would be a question for Xbox. But I don’t know for sure.”

This is surprising, as previous reports stated that Kojima had no plans for Physint (and even Death Stranding) to be a PlayStation exclusive, even when Sony was funding the project. However, it seems exclusivity is now in the air while Kojima works with Xbox and Microsoft on his upcoming projects.

Take note that this doesn't mean it's confirmed that Physint will be an Xbox exclusive.

For those who don't own an Xbox console or a gaming PC, don't lose hope just yet. Kojima stated to IGN, "In previous updates from Xbox, I thought that they have this kind of stance where they want to deliver to as many gamers as possible, no matter what the platform is. I think all of that will be announced at a later time. I'm not sure yet, and I can't really say." So it seems there's some glimmer of hope.

We'll have to wait for an official announcement from Xbox to figure out if Physint will be a console exclusive or will be released on other platforms as well.
