How AdHoc's Dispatch Propelled an Indie Song to 10 Million Streams

Dispatch has officially sold over 2 million copies since launch, adding renewed interest to the episodic genre format. The eight-episode game drew a large crowd of players itching for that classic Telltale experience.

With a million copies sold and a nomination for Best Debut Indie Game at The Game Awards, there’s no denying that this game is a major success. As AdHoc celebrates, there’s one other artist who benefited from Dispatch’s reach.

Small indie artist Bershy just had the best weeks of her life after finding out her 2022 single, “Radio,” had reached 10 million streams since Dispatch’s episode 6 launched. Before, her songs got around thousands of listens. Now, she’s celebrating basically going mainstream.

Bershy acknowledges her success on Instagram.

Bershy posted on her Instagram account to thank AdHoc Studios for the massive opportunity and exposure. “Two weeks ago, I didn’t really think I’d make music again. Now, Radio just passed 4.5 million streams,” she said. Bershy’s song became a viral hit almost immediately, and AdHoc noticed it after commenting on the music video on YouTube with the message, “Get ready, Bershy.”

“[AdHoc Studio] and [Dispatch] just changed my life,” Bershy added in her Instagram post. She also shared another video of herself playing with her dog, writing, “Telling my kids that music finally paid the rent.”

For added context, Bershy’s “Radio” is a song played in Dispatch’s Episode 6. It’s one of the game’s iconic moments, where the Z-Team threw a housewarming party for Robert Robertson to make him feel better. The house party drew in all the members of the Z-Team, excluding Coupe or Sonar (depending on who you cut). Each member brought in their own special brand of lamps (don’t ask why) and danced to Bershy’s song.

Personally, it’s one of my favorite moments in the game. Seeing all these characters have fun and de-stress was a nice touch, and it really humanized them even more. It really was a calm before the storm, and that storm was definitely heartbreaking.

This is not the first time an artist has gained massive exposure thanks to a videogame’s success. Lorien Testard, composer behind the spellbinding Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 soundtrack, was some guy Sandfall Interactive found on Bandcamp and Soundcloud. Now, he has won awards and received nominations, including the Best Game Music Award at the 2025 World Soundtrack Awards. Additionally, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s soundtrack was also nominated for Best Score and Music at this year’s The Game Awards.

Even Duran Duran’s “Invisible” became an iconic song associated with Metal Gear, for hilarious reasons.

Sadly, Dispatch didn’t get any nods in the music and soundtrack department. But moments like Bershy’s breakout prove that videogames can provide massive exposure to an artist. We’ve seen it happen before, and now, another artist has benefited from a game’s success. And that’s the thing, they all deserve it.
