Upon seeing the Bell Beast, players will discover that it’s entangled in plenty of webs and has to be set free. That’s right, you need to unleash this beast before you fight it. Luckily, this is early on in the game, so players should consider this bit of exploration a preview of what’s to come.

How Do You Free the Bell Beast?
Players will need to go to the Mosshome area and find the Silk Spear to set it free. Because this is early on, finding this new ability shouldn’t be an issue, as players simply have to reach the topmost area to get the skill.
Once you’ve found the Silk Spear, find a bench to save your game and equip this tool. After you’ve equipped it, go back to The Marrow region and free the Bell Beast. Make sure to save by the nearby bench where you first meet Shakra, which shouldn’t be too far from the monster.
After resting, head to the Bell Beast and free it with the Silk Spear. Now, prepare to fight.
How to Beat the Bell Beast
The Bell Beast will be Hollow Knight: Silksong’s first challenging boss, so players better make sure to dodge and slice when they can. Don’t just start slashing this monster, as it’s an easy way to get killed. Just dodge its attacks, time your hits, and you will beat this boss in no time.
It’s worth noting that the Bell Beast has a couple of signature attacks to look out for:
- A charging tackle: just jump over the Bell Beast and hit it with a diving attack or two.
- Flying body press: The Bell Beast will jump at you slowly. Just run in the opposite direction and slash its tail once it hits the ground.
- Bell throw: Sometimes the Bell Beast will throw two bells, which are easy enough to jump over.
- Raining bells: When the Bell Beast has been hit enough times, it will let out a powerful roar that will lead to falling bells. Simply look at the falling dust and dodge the bells.
Sooner or later, you will beat the Bell Beast. Just make sure to have heals handy and try not to use the Silk Spear. While it does big damage, it takes away your turn to heal, which you’re going to need against this big guy.

Defeating the Bell Beast makes it your new Fast Travel companion.
Upon defeat, you can now fast travel to certain locations that have an arrow symbol. After the fight, we recommend players go back to the hub town in order to heal, save, and maybe buy some supplies.
