Nintendo just added Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance to the Nintendo Switch Online service, potentially ending decades of scalpers abusing scarcity to offer copies of the game for upwards of $400.

For those out of the loop, here's the gist. Path of Radiance is a Nintendo GameCube title, originally released in 2005. While the game was a success relative to the GameCube's user base, shipping shy of 160k copies during its first few months, it became an incredible niche physical copy, elevating its value over the years as it released towards the final months of the GameCube before the behemoth known as Wii debuted in late 2006. Thus, no more copies were made as demand was met efficiently.

Naturally, its value as a collector's item skyrocketed. Listings on eBay have some ridiculous prices attached to them, as aforementioned. Now, with Nintendo adding it to NSO, its value as a collector's item could significantly shrink.

The Nintendo GameCube classics section of NSO is tied to the Expansion Pack tier, which only has an annual subscription option. Considering that it's only $50 and that it can be split among several family members (or friends) offering you access to Path of Radiance as well as some beloved classics like SoulCalibur II, Wario Ware, Super Mario Strikers, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, it's an incredible deal to play one of the best reviewed Fire Emblem games in the entire franchise.
