After months of teasing, Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series finally has a release date: January 22, 2026.
It won’t be releasing this year as many had anticipated, especially considering recent hands-on from users at places like PAX or Gamescom confirmed this is one of the most visually stunning available on the Switch 2. While it runs at 30FPS, it’s a rock-solid performance with barely any drops.
If you’re a Final Fantasy 7 fan, you’ve likely already played Remake on either PS4, PS5, or even PC. But still, the portability of the Switch 2 might be a good incentive for a lot of people. Plus, this re-release comes with some neat bonuses.
First, if you pre-order the game digitally before January 31, you’ll get the original Final Fantasy 7. For physical enthusiasts, you can get a Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy Play Booster pack. The physical offer is only available for Nintendo Switch 2.
It’s expected that Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth also hits Switch 2 and Xbox Series next year. So there’s plenty more FF to come for everyone, regardless of platform.
