- Key Update: Gaming commentator Kiwi Talkz theorized that rising Xbox hardware costs and platform shifts outlined in Microsoft's public memo could pressure Rockstar into targeting a Nintendo Switch 2 port alongside the PC version.
- Status: Confirmed (Speculative theory based on a publicly available corporate Xbox memo)

- Quick Answer: A GTA 6 Switch 2 port is highly unlikely at launch due to massive technical constraints, despite recent industry speculation regarding changing console market shares.
A popular game interviewer has brought up the possibility of a GTA 6 Switch 2 port.
Recently, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma released an open and transparent memo about Xbox's plans. Among other things, the memo detailed the rising costs of hardware components and how this affects their plans for consoles.
This has caused a popular gaming insider to raise the possibility of Rockstar releasing GTA 6 on the Switch - a move that would be unprecedented to say the least. But is it possible? Let's discuss.
Will GTA 6 Release on Nintendo Switch 2?
On June 11, popular game developer interview Kiwi Talkz (also known as Reece Reilly) took to X to share his theory on a possible GTA 6 port to the Switch 2.

The latest memo from Xbox CEO Asha Sharma notes that they are suffering through a hardware component crisis. However, they also noted their plans for the holiday season of 2027. While this has led many to believe that Project Helix may finally release in that window, Kiwi Talkz has another conclusion in mind.
Instead, he believes that GTA 6 may announce a Switch 2 port, which will likely not come out on launch day, but will be released simultaneously with GTA 6's PC release instead.
Historically, Grand Theft Auto has launched simultaneously on PlayStation and Xbox and arrived on PC a year or two later. If Xbox's next console is canned (or people abandon the platform due to rising costs), then Sony's PS5 will inevitably become the dominant console. Xbox player base will shrink, and Rockstar will lose a massive chunk of sales, possibly forcing them to launch on the Switch.

However, the chances of this actually seem slim. With how heavy a game GTA 6 is expected to be, it's hard to believe it would even be able to run GTA 6 on anything less than 30fps. Additionally, the memo released by Sharma states they are committed to Project Helix, so it's unlikely the new console will be canned.
Do I think GTA 6 will release on the Switch? It's highly unlikely. However, Kiwi Talkz plans to ask his connections in Rockstar India, so maybe he'll have an answer for us soon.
