After many days of speculation and rumors, EA and DICE have officially confirmed that the companion battle royale experience to Battlefield 6 will be titled Battlefield REDSEC. Not only that, they have also confirmed that the title will release tomorrow, Tuesday, October 28th, at 8:00 AM PT (3:00 PM GMT), along with the premium title's Season 1.
This basically confirms all the rumors that the studio was planning to shadow drop the title, announcing it only 24 hours before its release. This is not the first time EA has done this for one of its titles, as that was the release strategy for Apex Legends back in 2019.
REDSEC will be a free-to-play experience, meaning you won't need to purchase Battlefield 6 to play it. The mode was first teased at Battlefield 6's multiplayer reveal event back in July, and a private test took place weeks after for all Battlefield Labs members.
The game will have all the weapons and utilities from BF6, and the launch map is set to take place in California, United States, featuring many POIs and access to the coast.
ModernWarzone, a popular leaker on X (formerly Twitter), reported that only Duos and Quads will be the only playlists available at launch. The same source previously said that the max player count for each match at launch will be 100.
To coincide with the battle royale's launch, a gameplay trailer will be released on Battlefield's YouTube channel. You can see it below when the time comes:
