2XKO's official launch date has been leaked. The free-to-play Riot Games tag fighter will come to PS5 and Xbox Series on January 20. This date will also mark the end of the early access period on PC.
The official 2XKO YouTube channel uploaded a trailer, which has now been privatized, according to Gematsu. Riot Games previously revealed that they aimed to release their tag fighter early in 2026, and with the leak spoiling the surprise, the speculation as to when they were planning to do it can finally end.
The game's been in a constant playable state since October, after plenty of closed and open beta testing periods. For console players, the wait's been particularly excruciating, as the last time they got access to a 2XKO build was all the way back in August 2024. Since then, the game has received substantial changes, including revamped system mechanics and new Champions.
2XKO's official launch will bring Season 1 and a new Champion, Caitlyn. The sharpshooter Piltover legend was announced at The Game Awards, rounding up the launch roster to 12 Champions. A somewhat low number for a fighting game, let alone a tag fighter.
It'll be interesting to see what kind of reception 2XKO will garner now that it will become an official game available on different platforms. The initial hype has seemingly died down amid questionable balancing decisions but with both PS5 and Xbox users coming into the fold and the game finally kicking off Season 1, there's a chance for it to rekindle the initial excitement fans had for it.
