It's happening, 2XKO is finally coming to consoles, Riot Games has announced. It's expected that the League of Legends tag fighters will come to Xbox and PlayStation in January.
Announced by game director Shaun Rivera, it was revealed that 2XKO will be hitting both Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5 this January. The game has been in what's basically an extended open beta period since this past October, following plenty of closed alpha tests.
The October soft launch saw the game launch with a total of 11 characters, or Champions if you will. A considerably lower number than what fans had initially in mind, especially for a tag fighter.
Since the console launch means 2XKO will officially leave its open beta period and move into its 1.0 version, players are also expecting it to coincide with more content, whether that's cosmetics or, more importantly, new Champions.
Luckily, Riot Games confirmed that a new character will be shown at The Game Awards. Whether its meant to be released alongside the 2XKO console launch or not, remains to be seen.
In any case, fans are heavily encouraged to tune in as the game is also nominated for Best Fighting Game.
Is 2XKO Coming To Switch 2?
Sadly, 2XKO isn't planned for Nintendo Switch 2 at the time of writing.
Nintendo's latest system could potentially have no issues running the game, considering it'll also be available on Xbox Series S, and the fact that games like Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid run on rollback netcode on the original Switch.
That said, the dev team would likely need time to properly port the game to the hybrid console, so it'll take some time before we get some news about a potential 2XKO Switch 2 version.
