  • Quick Answer: The first major patch for 007 First Light has been released, addressing critical bugs and enhancing game stability across all platforms.

Just days after James Bond’s highly anticipated return to gaming, IO Interactive has officially deployed Patch 1.0.1 for 007 First Light across all platforms. We loved the game and gave it a perfect 10, which you can check out in our 007 First Light Review.

The day-one-adjacent update primarily targets critical stability improvements, addressing several high-profile story crashes, NPC pathing quirks, and game-breaking progression bugs that players encountered during the game's opening weekend.

Patch Details & Platform Download Sizes

The update went live on May 28th at 17:00 UTC / 19:00 CEST. Interestingly, download sizes vary drastically by platform, with Microsoft Store PC players facing a massive re-download compared to the incredibly lightweight hotfixes on consoles and Steam.

Major Fixes: Smoother Cinematic Transitions & Smart NPCs

The meat of Patch 1.0.1 focuses on keeping players immersed in the story without sudden desk-drops. Several progression-blocking crashes tied to specific cutscenes have been ironed out, alongside a hilarious bug that sent NPCs walking through solid walls.

Campaign & Cutscene Stability

  • Bond & Moneypenny Elevator Scene: Fixed a prominent crash that occurred right after the opening credits/title sequence during a cutscene in the mission "In His Majesty’s Secret Service".
  • M’s Office: A crash that triggered immediately after exiting M's office in Chapter 02, "A Night Out", has been resolved.
  • Returning to London: Fixed a crash during the cinematic sequence that plays upon completing Chapter 05, "Beyond the Grave".

Gameplay & Logic Fixes

  • Hostile Guards: In Chapter 06, "Uninvited", an issue has been fixed where guards would instantly skip their confrontational dialogue and turn hostile the moment Bond left the CCTV room.
  • NPC Pathing (Greenway & Co.): Fixed a pathing bug where standing directly in the way of certain characters—including Greenway—would cause them to glitch through walls or completely vanish from the map.
  • Epic Games Store Deluxe Items: Content entitlements have been fixed so that EGS Deluxe Edition owners now correctly receive their bonus items.

Current Known Issues Under Investigation

While Patch 1.0.1 clears up several immediate hurdles, IO Interactive also published an official "Known Issues" tracker outlining bugs they are actively working to squash.

  • While Patch 1.0.1 clears up several immediate hurdles, IO Interactive also published an official "Known Issues" tracker outlining bugs they are actively working to squash.

If you are encountering any of the following problems, the studio has provided temporary community and developer workarounds:

  • PC — Game Won’t Launch: Some PC users are experiencing total silence when trying to boot the game. IO Interactive is investigating the root cause, though they note that some community-made system tweaks have found success. Advice: Only attempt system registry/file changes if comfortable, otherwise wait for an official hotfix.
  • PC — HDR Disables Automatically: HDR is currently turning itself off every time a player exits the game. Workaround: Manually re-enable HDR in your settings menu upon relaunching.
  • PC & PS5 — Broken MI6 Shooting Range: Players are currently unable to fire weapons within the MI6 shooting range. No workaround exists yet; players are advised to watch official social channels for updates.
  • Xbox Series X — Start Screen Controller Freeze: The game sometimes refuses to register controller input on the initial title screen. Workaround: Hold the Xbox guide button to bring up the power menu, restart the console, but do not close the game application—then use Quick Resume to jump back in.
  • PS5 — Opening Cinematic Crash: A persistent crash during the game's absolute first cinematic. Workaround (Unconfirmed): Disconnect your PS5 from the internet to play the opening in Offline Mode, then reconnect once you've progressed past the scene.
  • Epic Games Store — Missing Obsidian Gold Suit: Legacy and Collector's Edition buyers on EGS may notice their DLC items (like the Obsidian Gold Suit) are missing. Workaround: Check your EGS DLC library to confirm ownership. IO Interactive confirms no extra code is needed and that a backend fix is on the way.
