Animal Crossing January Update: Release Date, Festivale Event, Pave, Patch Notes And Everything You Need To Know

Animal Crossing New Horizons had an incredible year in 2020, selling over 26 million units since its release in March.

In a commitment to keep the game updated and fresh over the year, New Horizons has seen a flurry of updates in recent months.

Now, with the New Year in full swing, we can expect a brand new patch coming soon.

Here's what we know about the Festivale Event and January Update coming to Animal Crossing New Horizons.

Release Date

The new update will arrive on the 28th January 2021.

The Festivale event will take place on the 15th February 2021!

January Update

Confirmed via the following image; New Horizons will be getting a free update towards the end of January.

As well, this will see the implementation of the villager 'Pave' the peacock. 

According to data miners, two of these changes might be something fans have seen in previous games.

Accompanying them will also be some quality of life changes to improve the in-game experience of players.

An interesting feature of previous Animal Crossing games allowed villagers to visit the houses of players; which may be added in the new update.

Data miners were able to locate some unused dialogues in the files that point towards this significant update.

As well as this, there are game files that point towards items that players can use to decorate their ceilings.

Festivale Event

Pave is the ringleader behind the annual Festivale event.

This event however usually takes place in February; so there is quite a bit of time between the update and the actual event. 

Pave is a big fan of feathers and requests certain colours of them from you in exchange for special prizes - including the elusive Rainbow Feather.
