Batgirl Set Photo Has Major Reference to Lex Luthor

Filming for Batgirl is underway and pictures from the set reveal the presence of a Lex Luther Easter egg.

As spotted by @pepsicereza (via Batgirl Film News), the prop seems to be a big one for DCEU fans. In the form of a magazine cover for the “Gotham Tattler”, the headline reveals that Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor is still very much active.

Batgirl Set Photo Has Major Reference to Lex Luthor

Fans noticed the magazine during Batgirl’s production in Glasgow, Scotland. There’s a lot of detail on the cover, with one of the titles mentioning the Capital Building bombing that occurred in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. While the rest of the headline revealed that Lex is still in jail and has just hired a new lawyer:

Billionaire villain Lex Luthor hires new lawyer to appeal his sentence.
We get his story from INSIDE Arkham Asylum.
Extraordinary genius or Psychotic Maniac?
On his time as CEO of LexCorp Industries.

Lex did pop up at the end of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, with the supervillain out of jail and attempting to recruit Deathstroke. However, with The Flash retconning some of the DCEU’s past events, the ego maniac’s meeting with Slade Wilson may have been erased, possibly returning him behind bars.

This is especially likely, since the purpose of the scene was to set up Deathstroke’s encounter with Ben Affleck’s Batman. And, as many know, that movie was scrapped, with Affleck’s final appearance as the Caped Crusader confirmed for The Flash.

Clark Kent, Lex Luthor, and Bruce Wayne are looking at each other.

This isn’t the first surprising set photo to leak from Batgirl’s set, as a previous image showcased a significant reference to Robin. The Boy Wonder's yet to show up in DC’s recent live-action projects, so some speculate Robin could be introduced in the Leslie Grace-led movie.

While this might be speculation, we certainly do know Michael Keaton’s Batman will make an appearance.
