Xbox Series X: Why Is My Game Queued But Not Downloading?

How to games not downloading

Xbox Series X/S

If you notice your games aren’t downloading we have a few steps to try out!

Firstly, make sure you’re signed in to the account that purchased the games, you can do this by opening up the menu with the Xbox button on your controller then selecting the correct profile.


After this head over to your queue in the My Games and Apps menu.

Once here we have a few potential solutions.

Solution 1: Is something else downloading?

You’ve probably checked this already, but in case not, make sure that something else isn’t downloading.

Your Xbox will download items in the order it receives them, it won't prioritise the game or app you just bought.

If your other titles are installing, updating or downloading DLC, those will be ahead.


You can simply pause those downloads or prioritise others by using your controller and the on-screen prompts!

Solution 2: Is my Xbox connected to the internet?

If your Xbox Series X or Series S isn’t connected to the internet, you’ll run into troubles.

Rebooting your wireless router or re-connecting your Xbox should solve your download problem.

Solution 3: Still not working?

Sometimes the best option is to turn it on and off again.


Switch off your Series X, or Series S, wait about 30 seconds, then turn it on again.

Once you’ve loaded in and are logged in to your profile, hopefully, your downloads will resume!

If this still isn’t working, official Xbox support will be your best bet!
