Xbox Console Sales Up 232%, Microsoft Gaming Revenue Grows By 50% Year-Over-Year


Microsoft's FY21 Q3 results show that the Xbox brand is enjoying a sizeable boost off of the back of the Xbox Series S and X console launches late last year.

Xbox hardware revenue jumped a huge 232%, 'driven by continued demand' for the new consoles, according to the presentation which can be found here.

The company's Xbox section as a whole grew 50%, too, with content and services growing 34% from 'third-party titles, Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, and first-party titles'.

Industry analyst Daniel Ahmad of Niko Partners noted on Twitter that this is likely the best Q1 (FY Q3) of Microsoft's gaming division 'since they started breaking out numbers about six years ago'.

Ahmad also noted that despite the two new consoles launching, 80% of the Xbox brand's revenue is still made up of content and services, such as Game Pass.
