PS5 DualSense Controller Applauded By Xbox's Phil Spencer

With the Series X|S, Xbox utilized a similar design for its controllers to that of the previous generation. Instead, the controller opted for internal technical advancements and refinements.

This is in contrast to the PS5, where the DualSense added a variety of physical and technical adjustments. These are features that the Xbox lead has greatly appreciated, speaking on the Kinda Funny Gamescast.

PS5 DualSense Controller Applauded By Xbox's Phil Spencer

While speaking on the podcast, Spencer discussed the future of Xbox accessories.

Despite noting that bespoke accessories like VR headsets are not a priority, he emphasized that the current Xbox Series controller is likely to receive further adjustments, with Spencer specifically praising Sony's latest effort.

We’re definitely thinking about different kinds of devices that can bring more games to more places. There’s probably some work that we’ll do on the controller. I think Sony’s done a nice job with their controller and we kind of look at some of that and [think] there are things that we should go do.

Whether new incarnations of the Xbox controllers could include features like adaptive triggers remains to be seen.

However, it is a given that the controllers currently available are likely to evolve into controllers with more qualities, aimed at improving the gamer's experience. This change would be similar to how Microsoft introduced the Elite controller later down the Xbox One's run, as well as introducing textured triggers.
