Warframe Mag Build Guide - How to Obtain, Craft, and Best Builds

One of the initial warframes to choose at the beginning of the game, Mag is one of the best warframes for crowd control and extermination of larger groups of enemies, while also playing really well in a team as a decent support character.

Her Prime version also displays increased health, armor, and energy capacity, as well as an additional polarity. However, right now Mag Prime is unobtainable until the Vault brings her back, so you may need to roam around the Trade Chat in case you want to obtain her blueprints.

Mag Overview and Best Weapon Options

Mag, as her name indicates, involves the use of magnetic abilities, which can be used as an offensive weapon, but more importantly, as a means to control crowds of enemies, which happens most of the time in the game. Focus on those Magnetic abilities for you to manipulate fights as you see fit, equip Mag with weapons that have a long reach, and you will become unstoppable in combat.

Abilities
Passive

Mag pulls nearby Pickup Items towards her when she does Bullet Jumping, similar to Vacuum.

Pull
Magnetic force pulls enemies toward you, stunning them and bringing them into melee range. Strength:
100 / 125 / 150 / 300 Magnetic damage
10 / 15 / 20 / 25 % Energy drop chance
Range:15 / 20 / 22 / 25 Meters
Misc:
6 Meters of radial pull
90° Angle
200 % Damage on Magnetized target

Magnetize
Tap: Encloses a target in a magnetic field, ensnaring nearby enemies and dealing damage over time. Bullets and shards created from Polarize increase this damage.
Hold: Creates a magnetic field around Mag, absorbing ranged attacks and dealing damage back in a destructive cone.
Strength:
50 / 150 / 200 / 300 Blast explosion base damage
1.25x / 1.5x / 1.75x / 2x Damage multiplier
2x / 2.5x / 3.5x / 4x Magnetic pull
Duration:10 / 12 / 13 /15 Seconds
Range:
5 / 10 / 12 / 15 Meters of explosion radius
2 / 3 / 3.5 / 4 Meters of field radius
Misc:
10% / 15% / 20% / 25% Damage absorption
Infinite cast range

Polarize
Emit an energy pulse that depletes enemy shields and armor, creating shards that become deadly when mixed with Magnetize. Shields of allies touched by the pulse are restored. Strength:
250 / 300 / 350 / 400 True damage and shield restoration
1x / 1.5x / 2x / 2.5x Damage multiplier as Magnetic damage
Duration:2 / 3 / 4 / 5 Seconds of pulse travel time
Range:5 / 6 / 7 / 8 Meters of initial bubble radius
Misc:5.9 Meters of pulse travel speed per second

Crush
Magnetizes the bones of nearby enemies, causing them to collapse upon themselves. Strength:
800 / 1000 / 1250/ 1500 Base damage
2400 / 3000 / 3750/ 4500 Extra damage to Magnetized enemies
10 / 15 / 20 / 25 Shields per hit
Range: 8 / 10 / 13 / 18 Meters
Misc: 40 Shield restore on cast

Recommended Weapons
Since Mag shines as a Crowd Control asset, you don’t want weapons that focus on 1v1, but more widespread firearms, in which case Ignis is for sure the best option. Epitaph must be built with Blast in mind, and Pennant is the melee option you want due to its inherent large reach, which will come really handy after pulling enemies to you. As always, if you can afford the Wraith version of Ignis, the better. Use as many Forma on them as you see fit to achieve the desired build, and you'll be good to go!

Exilus Mod - Power Drift
Loadout

  • Transient Fortitude
  • Fleeting Expertise
  • Flow
  • Vitality
  • Intensify
  • Stretch
  • Streamline
  • Augur Reach

This Mag build will focus on you being able to Pull from long distances and then using a wide-reaching melee weapon like Pennant to obliterate large groups of enemies, or just spam Crush as much as needed while they’re laying down. You want to focus on Strength as a priority, and then Efficiency and Range. Vitality and Flow will give you sustainability and a better energy pool for you to achieve that, and Steel Charge is easily the best option in this build as the Aura Mod.

As always, use the best version of each mod you have, whether is Primed or Umbral.
